Joseph Schneider

My name is Joseph Schneider and I am running to be your representative in Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District.

I am an immigrant to this country, having escaped communist Romania. Weeks after becoming an American citizen, I was accepted into the United States Military Academy – West Point, and subsequently served as a Ranger qualified officer and in Special Forces (Green Berets) units. Thanks to the GI Bill, I was able to earn a master’s degree from USC and then attend both Harvard’s Business School and the Kennedy School of Government. Upon graduation, I became an entrepreneur and built a company that was acquired by a division of General Motors. Thereafter, I was appointed to serve as director of several public companies and went on to create an aerospace and defense strategy consulting firm that is still active today. My oldest son also graduated from West Point and served in Iraq. Another son is an Air Force veteran. In our family we believe in public service as an obligation not an occupation.

I am running for Congress because the current political system is failing America and continuing the status quo is not good enough. Politics today deliver good outcomes for special interests, political parties, professional politicians and government bureaucrats, however, for the rest of Americans it does not work that well. There is increasing income inequality and a health care system that’s too expensive and doesn’t cover everybody; life expectancy is on the decline and opioid addiction is rampant; there are schools that don’t educate and colleges that cost too much; not to speak of an expensive and ineffective criminal justice system. The list goes on and on. 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

Historically the American promise has been that if you work hard, you will be able to provide greater opportunity and a better future for your children. For 23 generations America has delivered on that promise, ours is the first generation for which that promise is potentially no longer true.

My top priority in Congress will be to reinvigorate the middle class with good jobs and growing incomes. I intend to work across the aisle to advance the interests of all the citizens in our district and be unrelenting in trying to reform the rigged political system. I plan to rely on my skills as a problem solver to provide effective solutions, not to just promote partisan talking points.

I ask for your support and your vote.

Together we can create a brighter future for ourselves and our children. I will fight for that if you give me the mandate.
